Development of the Indicators System for Biodiversity Assessment in Chaohu Lake Catchment
Biodiversity assessment is the basis for biodiversity conservation and management.Based on the"Pressure-State-Response"(PSR)model,this study developed a catchment-scale(14 indicators)and ecosystem-scale(23 indicators)biodiversity evaluation indicators system for Chaohu lake catchment. The impacts of state, change, threats, policy decision of biodiversity can be well reflected in this indicators system, and thus provides technical support for evaluating the effectiveness of the integrated protection and restoration of mountain, water, forest, farmland, lake and grassland in the middle and lower reaches of Yangtze river, and optimizing biodiversity conservation strategies.Additionally,it was found that the biodiversity levels of the lake and wetland ecosystems in the first-class water environment protection zone in the Chaohu lake catchment were comparatively high in 2022,indicating the effectiveness of the integrated treatment of Chaohu lake in the past decade.
