Study on the Growth Characteristics and Influencing Factors of Spartina alterniflora in Cangzhou
To investigate the impact of environmental factors on the growth characteristics of Spartna alterniflora at the regional scale, this study focused on S.alterniflora in the coastal zone of Cangzhou city,Hebei province.A systematic analysis was conducted to examine the correlation between the growth characteristics of S.alterniflora, including density, plant height, aboveground biomass, and rhizome depth, and the environmental factors, such as elevation, sediment salinity, median grain size, and total nitrogen. The results are as follows:the average density of S.alterniflora in Cangzhou was 266.10 plants/m2,the average plant height was 72.60 cm,the average aboveground biomass was 945.62 g/m2,and the average rhizome depth was 47.33 cm.Canonical correspondence analysis demonstrated that environmental factors were more effective in explaining the differences in the growth characteristics of S.alterniiflora(R2=0.81),with elevation and sediment salinity being the primary factors influencing growth characteristics.Partial least squares structural equation modeling indicated that the elevation could directly affect the plant height and aboveground biomass, and indirectly affect the growth characteristics by regulating environmental factors such as sediment salinity, oxidation reduction potential, and sulfide. At the regional scale, the elevation has a central role as a key environmental factor in regulating the growth strategy of S.alterniflora.These findings provide a significant foundation for a more comprehensive understanding of the ecological adaptation mechanisms of S.alterniflora at the regional scale,as well as for the development of scientific and effective preventive and control measures.
