Analysis of the Impact of Sewage Discharge on the Water Quality of Yalu River Tributaries Based on the Mike21 Model
It is of great significance to identify the scope of impact of sewage discharge on the surrounding water for preventing and dealing with water pollution accidents. This study simulated the impact of sewage discharge on the water quality of the Yalu river tributary of the sewage treatment station of renovation and expansion project by hydrodynamic and transport module of the MIKE21 model. The results showed that under the most unfavorable hydrological condition(with a guarantee rate of 90%in the driest month),under normal condition which tail water was treated, both the concentration of COD and ammonia met the Class Ⅲ in the Environmental Quality Standards for Surface Water(GB3838-2002);Under abnormal condition of untreated tail water, the concentration of COD and ammonia in the river exceeded the Class Ⅲ for surface water from the sewage discharge to the downstream boundary which was approximately 5 000 m.In order to prevent water pollution accidents, emergency pools for accidents should be set up in actual operation. When the sewage treatment plant cannot handle the tail water normally, the tail water should be stored in the accident pool and it is strictly prohibited to discharge directly into the river. This research results provide a basis for the water environmental management of the Yalu river branches, and also provide a theoretical guidance for the setting and optimization of coastal sewage discharge.
