Practices and Reflections in the Upgrading and Renovation of the National Wetland Museum of China
The sustainable development of a museum requires its basic exhibitions to keep pace with the times and adapt to the changes of the era.Since its establishment, the National Wetland Museum of China has been widely loved and supported by the audience. However, with the continuation of its operation, the exhibition contents, display forms, and equipment have gradually become outdated, failing to meet the increasing spiritual and cultural needs of visitors. In 2022,Hangzhou officially launched its commitment to creating an"International wetland city",providing an opportunity for the National Wetland Museum of China to initiate the first comprehensive renewal of its basic exhibitions. This paper summarizes the experiences from the practices of exhibition system construction and display design, and explores the approaches to enhancing exhibition halls from the perspective of temporary exhibitions, educational activities, cultural and creative products, and public services, with the renewal of basic exhibitions as a new starting point,in an effort to leverage the subtle influence of the museum in empowering urban renewal and enhancing the intrinsic cohesion and cultural soft power of the city.
