Effects of Substrate Physicochemical Properties on Biomass and Physiological Indexes of Phellodendron amurense Seedlings
[Objective]To explore the effects of physicochemical properties of different substrate ratios on the biomass and physiological indexes of Phellodendron amurense seedlings, and reveal the adaptability of Phellodendron amurense seedlings to substrate physicochemical properties,in order to provide scientific theoretical basis and technical support for the production of high-quality Phellodendron amurense container seedlings.[Method]The 1-year-old seedlings of Phellodendron amurense seedlings were used as experimental materials, and 9 substrates were prepared according to different volume proportions.A single factor randomized block design was used to compare the physicochemical properties of 9 substrates and the differences of biomass and physiological indexes of container seedlings with different proportions of substrates, and the correlation analysis was conducted.[Result]There were significant differences in physicochemical properties among 9 formulated substrates. That the relative parameters of 9 formulated substrates were reported as follows:bulk density:0.303-2.1 g·cm-3;electrical conductivity:0.15-0.47 mS·cm-1;water holding capacity:1.3%-2.95%;pH:6.11-8.31.The organic matter,alkali-hydrolyzed nitrogen, available phosphorus, available potassium, total N and total P of each matrix added to peat soil were significantly higher than those of pastoral soil, while the bulk density was significantly lower. The physicochemical properties of the five proported substrates(M2,M3,M4,M5 and M6)were better. The biomass, mass index and chlorophyll content of seedlings in the matrix increased with the addition of peat volume fraction, and the organic matter,alkali-hydrolytic nitrogen, available phosphorus, available potassium, total N and total P in the matrix with the addition of peat content≥50%were significantly higher than those in the idyllic soil.Among them, the biomass, quality index and chlorophyll content of seedlings in M4 ratio matrix(peat soil:pastoral soil =3:1)were the highest, showing obvious advantages.Correlation analysis showed that the pH value, total N,total P of the substrate had significant or extremely significant negative correlation with most of the biomass of the seedlings, and the chlorophyll content had significant positive correlation with organic matter,alkali-hydrolytic nitrogen, available phosphorus and available potassium.[Conclusion]Adding different proportions of peat to pastoral soil significantly changed the physicochemical properties of the substrate,The physicochemical properties among different groups of composite substrates was better in peat soil with volume fraction≥50%.Effects of seedling was the best with volume fraction 75%,and it was an ideal substrate for Phellodendron amurense container seedlings.
