Effects of Different Slope Positions on the Growth of Mixed Camphor and Chinese Fir Forests and Pure Camphor Tree Forests
[Objective]This study aimed to investigate the effects of different slope positions on the growth of Cinnamomum camphora forest and Cinnamomum camphora&Cunninghamia lanceolata mixed forest,so as to provide reasonable forest management decisions.[Method]The growth indexes of Cinnamomum camphora forest and mixed forest, including tree height,DBH and crown width, were investigated in different slope plots.[Result]By analyzing the growth of stands on different slope positions,it was found that slope positions had significant effects on the growth of DBH,height and crown width of Cinnamomum camphora trees. At different slope positions, the stand growth of Cinnamomum camphora forest and mixed forest was different. On the steeper slope, the height and DBH of Cinnamomum camphora forest were obviously higher than that of mixed forest, but on the slower slope, the difference between them was not obvious.[Conclusion]Slope position is an important site factor, which has a significant effect on the growth performance of Cinnamomum camphora forest and Cinnamomum camphora&Cunninghamia lanceolata mixed forest.Compared with middle slope and upper slope, the lower slope position is superior in DBH,tree height and branch height, while the middle slope position and upper slope position have no obvious difference on the growth of mixed forest and pure forest.Based on the above results,it is suggested that suitable forest combinations should be selected according to specific slope conditions in slope forestry management,so as to maximize the level of stand growth.
