Observation and Analysis of the Growth Pattern of One-year-old Seedlings of Perkinsiodendron macgregorii
[Objective]This study aimed to explore the growth patterns of one-year-old seedlings of Perkinsiodendron macgregorii to provide a basis for cultivating high-quality seedlings.[Method]The one-year-old Perkinsiodendron macgregorii seedlings was used as the research object, the seed weight and purity were measured, the seeds were soaked in warm water, and the germination rate, seedling growth rhythm and biomass were measured. The simulation equation was established with SPSS software.[Result]The thousand-seed weight of Perkinsiodendron macgregorii was was 216.7 g,the purity was 99.59%,The seeds germinated in the second year after sowing, exhibiting deep dormancy, and the germination rate in the nursery was 31%.During the growth of one-year-old seedlings, both seedling height and ground diameter showed an"S"-shaped growth pattern. The biomass ratio of above-ground to below-ground parts was 1:0.84,indicating a relatively large below-ground biomass and a developed root system. The curve equation of seedling height, ground diameter and growth time was obtained by regression fitting with SPSS software, which could simulate the seedling height and ground diameter of Perkinsiodendron macgregorii at a specific time point during its growth cycle.[Conclusion]Based on actual observations and growth dynamics simulations of one-year-old Perkinsiodendron macgregorii seedlings, the growth period of these seedlings can be divided into four stages. There were two growth peaks during the growth process, occurring in mid-to-late June and mid-tolate August, respectively. Therefore, during these two critical periods, water and fertilizer management should be strengthened to meet the nutritional requirements for vigorous seedling growth, promoting healthy and robust development.
