Low-Carbon Pilot Cities,Digital Transformation of Enterprises, and Green Technology Innovation
Low-carbon and digital development offer significant opportunities for green technology inno-vation in China. However, current research lacks a systematic discussion on the connection among low-carbon pilot city policies, enterprise digital transformation, and green technology innovation. This pa-per,drawing on neoclassical economic theory and the Porter hypothesis, analyzes 9,370 sample data from various industrial sectors and medium to large A-share listed companies in China from 2007 to 2019.It establishes a difference-in-differences model to examine the relationship among these factors. The findings show that low-carbon pilot city policies can effectively drive green technology innovation, with enterprise digital transformation an important machemanism. Moreover, the impact of these poli-cies on green technology innovation and the mechanisms of enterprise digital transformation vary depend-ing on the type of green technologies, enterprise characteristics, and geographical location. This study offers a theoretical framework for understanding the interplay among low-carbon pilot city policies,en-terprise digital transformation, and green technology innovation in China, providing policy references for achieving the"dual carbon"goals.
