The Carbon Reduction Effect of Digital Economy Development under the"Dual Carbon"Background
This paper explores the impact of the digital economy on carbon emission efficiency by ana-lyzing panel data from 30 provinces in China between 2011 and 2020.The entropy method is employed to measure the level of digital economy development, while the super-efficiency SBM model is used to calculate carbon emission efficiency.A two-way fixed-effects model and a dynamic spatial Durbin mod-el are constructed to empirically assess the influence of digital economy development on carbon emission efficiency and its spatial spillover effects. The findings reveal significant regional disparities in China's digital economy development, with the eastern region significantly outpacing the central and western re-gions.The relationship between the digital economy and carbon emission efficiency exhibits an inverted U-shaped trend and demonstrates notable spatial spillover effects. The non-linear relationship presents regional heterogeneity, resource endowment heterogeneity, and digital economy dimension heterogene-ity.To achieve the"Dual Carbon"strategic goals,it is recommended to formulate digital economy strate-gies tailored to local conditions, enhance regional collaboration, promote the integrated development of digital and low-carbon economies, and fully leverage the carbon emission reduction effects of the digital economy.
