Xiao Difei's Yuefu Literature History of Han,Wei and Six Dynasties is an important achievement of modern Yuefu studies,which has an important influence on the history of Yuefu studies,and also establishes his position.Xiao's work is a modern history of Yuefu after Luo Genze's History of Yuefu Literature,whose research features mainly show in two aspects:first,in the view of Yuefu,he puts forward the view that"Yuefu creates all kinds of poetic styles",acknowledging the contributions of all kinds of Yuefu in the history of literature;Second,concerning research methods,he adopts comprehensive and multi-perspective interpretation of the Yuefu poetry to dig deeply the value and characteristics of the Yuefu of the Southern Dynasty.This book embodies his academic origin of learning from Huang Jie.Whether in the classification of folk Yuefu of Han Dynasty,the understanding of"three tunes of Qingshang music""Xianghe music"the interpretation of Yuefu poetry,or the academic spirit,we can discover the absorption of Xiao by Huang Jie.Huang and Xiao,as the later students of"Jiujiang school",attached great importance to folk Yuefu,reflecting the responsibility of intellectuals in the turbulent times.
