Research on the Hierarchical Scale Structure of Lanxi Urban Agglomeration Based on Fractal Theory
Urban clusters are crucial carriers of new urbanization and key growth poles for high-quality regional devel-opment.Exploring the hierarchical scale structure of urban clusters is vital for optimizing spatial layouts and promo-ting high-quality development in the region. The research explores the application of fractal theory in the study of the Lanzhou-Xining urban agglomeration.Using the Hausdorff dimension and Zipf's Law,a comprehensive fractal analy-sis was conducted on the hierarchical size structure of the Lanzhou-Xining urban agglomeration. The research find-ings reveal that the Lanzhou-Xining urban agglomeration system exhibits distinct fractal characteristics, confirming the applicability of fractal theory in analyzing the hierarchical size structure of urban agglomerations.Based on the fractal analysis and analysis of rank-size characteristics, the results indicate:1)Significant differences in population distribution exist within the region, with a relatively dispersed distribution of city sizes, where leading cities such as Lanzhou and Xining dominate.2)There is a relatively limited number of towns with development potential and popu-lation sizes falling within the second tier.3)The rank-size structure of cities in the fourth tier is overly concentrated, indicating a relatively balanced population distribution.4)The Lanzhou-Xining urban agglomeration is still in an ear-ly stage of development, and its hierarchical size structure requires further optimization.
