Influencing Mechanism of Manufacturing Enterprise Improvisation Behavior under Supply Chain Emergencies——Configuration Analysis Based on fsQCA
Nowdays, supply chain emergencies occur frequently, and organizational improvisation has become an im-portant way for enterprises to deal with supply chain emergencies.Grounded in the theories of resource dependence and configuration, this study takes 30 manufacturing enterprises listed on the domestic GEM as the research object, and uses the fsQCA method to explore the influence mechanism of redundant resources, technical capabilities, chain directors, and supplier and customer concentration on enterprises'exploratory and exploitative improvisation from the perspectives of internal and external resources. The findings reveal that there are two driving paths of exploratory improvisation and three driving paths of exploitative improvisation;chain directors are conducive to the occurrence of exploitative improvisation, but not necessarily beneficial to exploratory improvisation;enterprises with more absorbed redundant resources and strong technical capabilities are more inclined to engage in exploitative improvisation, while enterprises with less absorbed redundant resources and weak technical capabilities tend to carry out exploratory im-provisation;supplier concentration does not play a leading role in improvisation, and customer concentration is not conducive to improvisation. The study revealed an asymmetrical relationship between exploratory improvisation and exploitative improvisation, providing recommendations for organizations to respond to supply chain disruptions through improvisation.
