On Rhetorical Motivation in Translating the Ancient Rhythmic Elements of Quanzhou Southern Opera
The rhetorical motivation is the intrinsic drive for the rhetorical subject to adopt rhetorical actions in order to meet the audience's expectations,while this rhetorical behavior of the subject is aimed at achieving the ultimate goal of transforming the audience's attitude or behavior.Based on a reexamina-tion of the insights brought by new rhetoric to the ancient rhythmic elements translation of Quanzhou Southern Opera,this paper focuses on following key processes:aligning with both the audience's and o-riginal work's intention,and operationalizing the standardized strategy that can achieve audio visual em-pathy.By combining typical repertoires of Quanzhou Southern Opera,this paper provides specific ap-proaches to emphasize the status of South Fujian dialect's rhythmic symbolism in translated operatic scripts,by variation techniques,like"background information,""artistic image,"and"stylistic struc-ture".These approaches aim to better facilitate the external dissemination of Quanzhou Southern Opera.
