Chinese picture books are important media of making Chinese culture"go global".In recent years,the pace of translating Chinese picture books is accelerating so that its overseas reception requires the further study.The overseas reception of English translation of Chinese picture books can be measured by website reader reviews.This paper is a case study of Chinese Legend picture book series authored by Li Jian.The relevant reader reviews collected from Amazon.com and Goodreads.com are used conduct quantitative and qualitative research in order to figure out the overseas reception of English translation of Chinese picture books.It is followed by the analyses of its translation and communication strategies focu-sing on the anchor of target readers,topic selection,theme,translation and adaptation,which can be use-ful in the translation and communication of other Chinese picture books.
