A Study of Metaphor Translation Strategies in the English Translation of Hmong Oral Epics from a Cognitive Perspective
The study of English translation of China's minority classics is a key step to promote the excellent Chinese culture to"go global".Since the English translation of Hmong Oral Epics was com-pleted,few scholars have conducted research on the metaphor translation strategies in this English translation.Based on conceptual metaphor theory, this study takes the English translation of Hmong O-ral Epics as the research text, focusing on exploring the cognitive mechanism and cognitive translation strategies of metaphor in the translation. From the perspective of the different embodied cognition caused by the images of the metaphors in the target text context, translators mainly adopt four transla-tion strategies, namely retention, conversion, omission and compensation,to deal with the images of the metaphors in the source text context,so as to coordinate and reshape the different embodied cogni-tion in different cultural contexts and realize the accurate transmission of information and image percep-tion to the maximum extent, which guarantees the ideal translation effect of Hmong Oral Epics.
