Analysis of Bidirectional Negative Transfer in College English Translation
Compared with bidirectional negative transfer,the unidirectional negative transfer phe-nomenon from the mother tongue to English in English learning often attracts more attention.However,a fact that cannot be ignored is that in the long-term immersion in English,English learner's Chinese expressions will also be subtly and negatively influenced by English expressions,resulting in the reverse negative transfer problem of English.If left unchecked,it will not only be unfavorable for English learn-ing,but also the Chinese expression as the mother tongue will be negatively restricted by English learn-ing,hindering the improvement of Chinese expression ability.Taking the bidirectional negative transfer between English and Chinese as the problem-oriented,selecting the Chinese-English translation answers in the final exam papers of College English for the second semester of 2023-2024 for grade 23 intermediate students in Nanchang Normal University as corpora,presenting and analyzing the bidirec-tional negative transfer phenomenon in college students'college English,and proposing the"five-thinking"teaching strategies,which are helpful to recognize and solve the bidirectional negative transfer problem.
