On the Version and Value of Chen Yixi's Yizhou Travel Diary
In the autumn of the 21st year of Kangxi(1682),Chen Yixi,the county magistrate of Anyi,was ordered to transport the soldier's pay into Sichuan,made Yizhou Travel Diary to record his travels.It is the book in the twenty-eighth year of Kangxi(1689)and YuZhou Collection and Gaolan Zai bi together,which is now known as YuZhou collection.Wang Xiqi,an editor of the later Qing Dynasty,took the Yuzhou Collection and Yizhou Travel Diary as the base,and reorganized it into the Xiao Fang Hu Zhai Yu Di Cong Chao by deleting and rewriting it.Although the book is well known to the world,the Yuzhou Collection is more complete and of greater scholarly value.The route to Shu is clearly outlined in Yizhou Travel Diary.By comparing Chen Yixi's route to Shu with that of different periods,we can see the changes of Shu road in Qing Dynasty.The book,along the way to see the landscape attractions,gold stone inscriptions,products and other records and testimonials,tracing the flow,correcting the fallacies of the predecessor,for our study of the Qing people into the Shu situation provides a reference,and has an important historical value.
