Study on pretreatment process of chitosan/cotton blended yarn
Chitosan fibers have natural antibacterial properties, and blending with cotton fibers can increase product added value. However, improper pretreatment processes can easily lead to the loss of chitosan in blended yarns. To explore the optimal pretreatment process for chitosan/cotton blended yarns, the effects of the amount of soda ash, caustic soda, temperature, and time in the pretreatment process on the properties of chitosan/cotton blended yarn were discussed. The orthogonal test results indicate that temperature is the main factor in pretreatment, and has the greatest impact on the performance of blended yarns;Next is the type and dosage of alkali. The yarn whiteness after caustic soda treatment is higher, while the yarn whiteness after soda ash treatment is lower, but the chitosan content decreases less;Time has the least impact on the performance of blended yarns. The optimal pretreatment process for dyeing light colors is 80℃×50 min×1.5 g/L caustic soda×4 g/L H2 O2,the optimal pretreatment process for dyeing medium to dark colors is 70℃×50 min×4 g/L soda ash×4 g/L H2 O2.On the premise of ensuring the chitosan content, the single yarn breaking strength, whiteness and core absorption height of the chitosan/cotton blended yarns should be improved as much as possible.
