Construction of fully bio-based flame-retardant anti-dripping coatings on polyester fabric
In order to give the polyester fabric good flame retardancy and anti-dripping performance, the polyester fabric was finished with chitosan(CS)/phytic acid(PA)bio-based flame retardancy and anti-dripping coating by layer-by-layer self-assembly process. The surface morphology, flame retardancy, thermal stability, combustion performance, whiteness and flame retardancy mechanism of the polyester fabric before and after finishing were analyzed. The results show that CS/PA coating was uniformly deposited on the surface of the finished polyester fabric, the limiting oxygen index increased from 21%to 28.3%,and the fabric could self-extinguished without melting drops in the vertical combustion test, and the damage length was reduced from 30.0 cm to 7.6 cm.The thermal stability and combustion performance are improved, the maximum heat release rate is reduced by 52.0%,and the total heat release is decreased by 33.3%.CS/PA coating mainly improves the flame retardancy of polyester fabric through the expansion flame retardancy mechanism. The whiteness of the finished polyester fabric decreased by 2.5%,which provided the experimental basis for the preparation of bio-based flame retardant polyester fabric with no organic solvent and environmental protection.
