Spanning tree protocol(STP)is an important protocol that logically optimizes the ring network topology into a tree structure.Proper configuration of STP has a direct impact on the performance of the two-layer network.This paper starts with a large area disconnection fault of VHF radio monitoring in Lanzhou control area,analyzes the cause of the fault and the troubleshooting process in detail,brings in to the role of STP in the two-layer network,and introduces the function and operation mechanism of STP in detail.It has certain reference value for network maintenance units and individuals.
