Analysis of Damage to Inner and Outer Main Wheels of Boeing 737NG Family Aircraft
This paper focuses on the inner and outer main wheels of the Boeing 737NG family aircraft.Through analysis of their force conditions, environment and pilot skill levels,in conjunction with a certain airline's database on the replacement of B737NG family aircraft wheels,it summarizes the differences in damage between inner and outer main wheels, and puts forward optimization suggestions to improve the safety and economy of inner and outer main wheel usage, thereby reducing the operating costs of airlines. The research results show that the inner main wheel is subjected to greater force, mainly due to the impact force and fuselage vertical gravity during landing, which increase the possibility of shoulder wear. The outer main wheel is subject to greater lateral load, and the typical damage modes are peeling at the tire shoulder and tread wear.In general, the inner main wheel is easier to be worn out of limit than the outer main wheel, and the statistical results of the database confirm this conclusion.
