Analysis of Radar Echoes of a Strong Convection Process Accompanied by a Gust Front
Using conventional weather data,Doppler weather radar data, sounding and automatic station data, this paper analyzes a strong convective weather process accompanied by a gust front near Guanghan Airport on July 17,2023.The results show that when the gust front passes through, the temperature drops, the wind direction suddenly changes, and the wind speed increases sharply;the K index,Shackleberry index,T850-T500 and T7000-T500 have certain indicative significance for predicting thunderstorms and strong winds;when the strong echo area in a thunderstorm rapidly decreases in height,a strong downdraft is formed, generating gust fronts;due to the low height of the gust front, the arc-shaped weak echo zone can be detected first on the reflectivity factor map at low elevations on radar;the generation of new thunderstorms is easily triggered during the movement of gust fronts.
