A Study on the Level of Hong Kong and Macau Youth's Trust in Mainland Mainstream Media and Its Predictors
Enhancing the trust of Hong Kong and Macao youths in the Mainland mainstream media is an important condition for promoting the integration of the Mainland mainstream media into the youth groups in Hong Kong and Macao and for effectively carrying out value-led work. However, little is known about the trust of Hong Kong and Macao youth in the Mainland mainstream media under the background of"one country, two systems".In this study,a questionnaire survey was used to examine the trust level and predictive factors of Hong Kong and Macao university students studying in mainland universities and study the factors affecting trust in three aspects:media system, political system, and education system. It was found that young Hong Kong and Macao students had a higher level of trust in the mainstream media in the Mainland, which was significantly higher than their trust in overseas mainstream media. The competence, integrity and goodwill of the media, trust in the Mainland government, their own sense of obedience, and the degree of patriotic education that they received in senior secondary school were all significantly and positively correlated with Hong Kong and Macao youth's media trust.Students'level of interest in politics was negatively correlated with their level of media trust. An inverted U-shaped relationship was found between the extent of patriotic education received by students at the university level and their trust in the media.
