Constructing Village Community in Three Dimensions Through Folk Rituals——A Case Study of GongQi in Meilang Village
GongQi ritual is an important folk activity in Hainan and has great significance for the construction of village communities.As the ancestral god of Meilang Village in Longqiao Town,Haikou City,Wu Gongzhen possesses supernatural and sacred power,which is not only an emotional dependence for villagers,but also the foundation of building a village community.Compared to the past,the form and content of GongQi in modern society has experienced changes,and GongQi has been endowed with temporal and spatial characteristics that enable it to transcend limitations,reconsolidate,and maintain the village community.Furthermore,GongQi can simulate a non-kinship relationship.The construction of non-kinship relationships within the village strengthens the connection between villagers'public and private lives.Beyond the village,it can transcend individual and territorial limits to connect villages.
