Study on the effect of compound flocculants on the settlement of fine coal slime wate
The paper studied the impacts of ionic types and compound mixing of polyacrylamide(PAM)flocculants on the settling behaviors of fine-size and hard-to-settle coal slime water by measuring the supernatant turbidity, initial settling speed, and comprehensive evaluation indexes. The results showed that when the flocculant was added signally, the PAM of nonionic type could achieve the best flocculation effect at 180 g/t with the highest comprehensive evaluation index of 7.86 mm/(s·NTU)and the supernatant turbidity 246.3 NTU.Settlement behavior was further intensified using the compound flocculant made by the nonionic PAM with molecular weights of 10 million and 14 million mixed at a 2∶1 ratio. The comprehensive evaluation indexes of coal slurry water achieved the highest value 27.86 mm/(s·NTU)at a dosage of 180 g/t by using the compound flocculant and the fractal dimension of the flocs was found increased. This indicated that the floc structure became compact, which is favorable for the settlement of coal slime water.
