Circulating fluidized bed boilers and coal powder industrial boilers are important development directions for coal-fired industrial boilers due to their high energy efficiency and good environmental performance. In order to meet the needs of boiler selection,a comparative analysis of the two types of boilers is conducted from the aspects of technical performance, operation and maintenance, economy, and environmental protection, and practical comparison is carried out based on project cases. The project case shows that due to the lack of centralized powder manufacturers in the surrounding area, the coal powder industrial boiler in this case requires pre furnace powder production. The construction investment and steam production cost of the coal powder industrial boiler scheme are 6.26 million yuan higher and 336000 yuan/year lower than those of the circulating fluidized bed boiler scheme, respectively. There are many safety hazards in the auxiliary powder production process of the coal powder industrial boiler.Based on economic and safety considerations, the circulating fluidized bed boiler scheme is selected for the project case. There is no absolute superiority or inferiority between the two types of furnaces.Circulating fluidized bed boilers are suitable for a wide range of coal quality, while coal powder industrial boilers are suitable for areas with high environmental requirements and automation levels. The most suitable furnace type should be selected based on specific scenarios and conditions.
