Interrelation study between clay mineral assemblage and organic matter in shale of lower Yangtze Coal-bearing Strata
In order to study the relationship between clay minerals and organic matter in the Lower Yangtze Wuwei sag,the Permian shale samples were analyzed by X-ray diffraction(XRD),total organic carbon(TOC)and scanning electron microscopy(SEM).The correlation between clay mineral content and total organic carbon content was analyzed. The results showed that the shale minerals in the study area were mainly composed of clay minerals and quartz. The clay minerals were mainly illite and chlorite, and basically did not contain montmorillonite.Scanning electron microscopy showed that the pores developed in the clay minerals, with pore lengths of 1~3 μm and pored widths of hundreds of nanometers.Organic matter was enriched in the solution hole. The correlation coefficient between total organic carbon content and clay mineral content of shale was high and positive.
