On Huang Daozhou's view of body——Centered around"being wise and protecting oneself"and"prefering death to humiliation"
Huang Daozhou's concept of body has rich connotations. On the ontological level,by placing the body in the relationship of"heaven, parents and man",he revealed that the body is born in heaven and earth, born in parents, and becomes the body of moral practice. The body is not only understood as the body of the flesh, the body of the self, but also as the bearer of virtue and the manifester of the way of heaven. On the level of ethical practice,he believed that the body needs to continuously achieve the transcendence of the material body and the ego body through moral cultivation, and become a real body and settle down.According to Huang Daozhou, the body has two dimensions of reality and transcendence, which can resolve the tension between the two concepts of"being wise to protect oneself"and"risking one's life to pursue one's ideals".
