On the translation of city slogans——A case study of"Mei hao sheng huo kan Xinyang"
With Skell corpus retrieval,contrastive analysis and reference method,the paper,on the basis of explaining the essential connotation and internal logic of"美好生活看信阳"(spelled Mei hao sheng huo kan Xinyang according to Chinese Pinyin),analyzes the shortcomings of its existing and potential translations,suggests that"Better Xinyang,Better Life"should be identified as an appropriate translation,and put forwards suggestions to optimize translation process of city slogans.
