The formation and development of opera highlights result from the continuous evolution of theatrical performance and the inheritance and innovation of traditional Chinese opera.This paper explores the origin and characteristics of opera highlights,analyzes the cultural connotation and practical significance of the Sichuan Opera classic highlights-Identifying Footprints in the Snow,and compares the different translation styles and characteristics between Yang Xianyi translation and William Dolby translation.Through examples,the different translation styles and features of the two translations in terms of language expression,cultural transmission,and phonological processing are discussed,aiming to provide a reference for drama translation,to improve the quality of English translation of Chinese traditional drama,to promote the inheritance and innovative development of drama culture,and to facilitate its international dissemination.
