The educational function of aesthetic education in"simultaneous development of five educations"does not lie in the differences between aesthetic education and other"four educations"in terms of the contents and forms of teaching or ac-tivities,but in the irreplaceable function of aesthetic education in cultivating the basic qualities of well-rounded individuals.Aesthetic education is not a"tool"or"medium",but a"goal".By analyzing the inherent characteristics of the integration of Chinese aesthetic education from tradition to modernity,we can grasp the differences between the functions,practical media,and evaluation principles of aesthetic education and the other four educations,extract the qualitative characteristics and practical points of aesthetic education,and serve the construction and practice of aesthetic education discourse in the new era.
