A New Discussion on"Prime Minister of Peace"Yan Shu
Yan Shu,an outstanding politician of the Northern Song Dynasty,has always been negatively labeled as the"Prime Minister of Peace"by later generations.Although he lived in the early Northern Song Dynasty,which was considered a relatively peaceful era,the country was plagued by natural disasters,foreign invasion,and internal and external struggles within the court,and was plagued by crises;Yan Shu himself was also exiled three times due to the dispute between the emperor and the queen,as well as the party struggle,his political career was not peaceful.Thus the title of"Peace Prime Minister"is not established.In politics for nearly fifty years,he was able to stabilize the overall situation,select and appoint talents,manage the country politically,economically,and militarily,implement the policy of stabilizing the country,and lay the foundation for the"Jiayou governance".The misreading of"Prime Minister Peace"undoubtedly resulted in the separation of the dual personalities of politicians and literati by later generations,and it is indeed necessary to restore the historical context and redefine it.
