By reviewing the history of the reception of foreign envoys under the management of Yunnan governors in the Qing Dynasty,it can be seen that the reception was very attentive and meticulous,with various arrangements showing the important role of Yunnan as a diplomatic window for Western Southeast Asian countries and the history of friendly exchanges between China and foreign countries,with Yunnan officials and people as the important bridge.It also highlights the characteristics of various ethnic chieftains,soldiers,and translators joining the national foreign affairs work in Yunnan's reception work.At the same time,it can also be found that the Yunnan Governor's reception of foreign envoys includes many purposes such as collecting information on foreign situations in Southeast Asia,understanding foreign cultures,and identifying foreign diplomatic intentions.These reception work made many contributions to diplomacy,border defense,and border governance,which was another important feature of Yunnan's foreign reception work in the Qing Dynasty.
