A Comparative Study of Chinese and American Geopolitical Discourse on the"Coup"in Myanmar
The study utilized Nvivo software to conduct discourse analysis on the offiicial websites of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the US State Department regarding the"coup"in Myanmar.The main conclusions were drawn as follows:"stability"and"democracy"are the core of the geopolitical discourse of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the US State Department towards Myanmar respectively;Chinese geopolitical discourse emphasizes equality between countries in the geopolitical space,while American emphasizes the relationship between subject and object;The interference of the United States in Myanmar's internal affairs and its pressure on China are both manifestations and paths of its"democratic discourse hegemony"geopolitical discourse,while China insists on using a"win-win cooperation"geopolitical discourse to respond to Myanmar's"coup"and international pressure.China's discourse is a value transcendence of the United States'"democratic discourse hegemony"geopolitical discourse,promoting positive interaction between China and the world.
