Order Production & Reproduction in Funeral Rites of A'xi Yi People in Southern Yunnan
Robert Herz thinks death has a special significance for social consciousness, and it is the object of collective representation. From the research of funeral custom in Hongwan Village in Southern Yunnan,it is found that people construct a separate and reciprocal order between"soul space"and"body world"through funeral ceremony, which is a concentrated reflection of the concept of soul survival of local A'xi people. In addition,as a common understanding of order system, the differential social relations network can be presented and re-clarified through the practice of relatives group and geographical community in funeral ceremony, and then standardizes the daily life and the village order of local A'xi people.
