Influence of Confucianism in Vietnam through Ancient Villages Regulations:A Case Study in the Red River Delta of Northern Vietnam
This article aims to explore how Confucianism,underlying the ancient village regulations in Vietnam,is manifested in Vietnamese rural society and analyze its practical application in rural communities.Vietnam,being part of the East Asian cultural sphere,has also been profoundly impacted by Confucianism since feudal times,especially in terms of social organization,values,and moral norms.The village regulations,known as"Hu(o)ng u(o)c"in Vietnamese,serves as a social normative document,a set of general behavioral guidelines established through mutual consultation by a community to regulate and mediate social relationships.Ancient village regulations,as a form of social governance in Vietnam,encompass various aspects of rural life and play a vital role in grassroots society.
