The Integration of Cultural Resources in the Development of Villages and Towns with Ethnic Characteristics:A Case Study of Longfusi Village,Sungezhuang Manchu Township,Tianjin
Villages and towns with ethnic characteristics have been providing social spaces for daily interaction and adaptation among residents of different ethnic backgrounds,and foster robust multidimensional social connections among villag-ers through the integration of elements such as cul-ture,economy,history,and emotion.Therefore,they have become pivotal fields for ethnic commu-nication,interaction,and integration.Rich in cul-tural heritage,such ethnic villages and towns store abundant cultural assets,nurturing a sense of be-longing and closeness among various ethnic groups through an organic amalgamation of their respective traditional cultures.By leveraging the resource sit-uation and developmental potential of ethnic minor-ity villages and towns,and leveraging the interac-tion between the macro ethnic policies and grassro-ots village development experiences,this study in-fers it is possible to realize an implementation of forging a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation in villages and towns with the ethnic charac-teristics,promote a positive integration of cultural resources across various ethnic groups,and en-hance the centripetal force of the Chinese nation through cultural practices that foster communica-tion,interaction,and integration.Such cultural integration potentially serves to organically fuse tra-ditional culture stemming from various ethnic back-grounds,reinforcing identification with the Chinese national community.As such,it emerges as a nec-essary measure or advancing a high-quality devel-opment of ethnic work in the new era.An integrative framework of cultural resources has been established for the development of villa-ges and towns with ethnic characteristics in Longfu-si village of Jizhou district,Tianjin.This frame-work has been operating across three key dimen-sions:cultural space,cultural capital,and cultur-al memory.In terms of cultural space integration,the design philosophy has blended Manchu and Han influences,creating communication places for contact,interaction,and integration between these ethnic groups.Results additionally show that through the production,inheritance,accumula-tion,and transformation of cultural capital,sus-tainable cultivation of Chinese cultural assets has been achieved in a process which emphasizes an harmonious relationship between people and the environment,and facilitates a smooth circulation of various forms of capital.Furthermore,the integra-tion of micro boundary of identity by cultural mem-ory,particularly the shared historical narratives of Manchu and Han living together and collective de-fense,has strengthened their historical connection in the historical development.This resulted in the pluralistic and integrated cultural elements of the Chinese nation,shared mutually by Manchu and Han people,fostering harmonious contact and shared destiny among different ethnic groups.Drawing insights from the experiences of Longfusi village,this study proposes that the con-struction of villages and towns with ethnic charac-teristics should not only pay attention to leveraging local cultural resources but also consider the en-dowment of ethnic cultural assets and the current situation of multi-ethnic cultural integration and co-existence.Lastly,continual exploration and culti-vation of the elements of the Chinese national com-munity are advocated,alongside the construction of contemporary and locally relevant mechanisms for integrating multi-ethnic cultural resources.
