Efficiency in Forging a Strong Sense of Community for the Chinese Nation under the"Image-Imagery"Symbiotic Communication Mechanism
Image communication can be ex-plained as using visual symbols to disseminate in-formation and convey meaning,leveraging their empathic impact and ability to foster identification often benefitting from the framing and transmission of their inner imagery.Moreover,it can be said that in the process of specific communication,both image and imagery communication present a u-nique symbiotic communication form and structure.Applying this to the Chinese context,findings sug-gest the symbiosis of"image-imagery"manifests wherein images convey emotion and meaning through imagery,and imagery often becomes a core element and mechanism of image communication in the context of Chinese civilization.If image is a physical and static code at the level of visual repre-sentation,then imagery can be viewed as a living and dynamic code at the level of emotional con-sciousness.From the perspective of the form of"image-imagery"communication,image communi-cation takes imagery communication as its internal communication mechanism,meanwhile imagery communication may also enhance image communi-cation by enabling deeper engagement beyond sur-face perceptions,facilitating cognitive connections and linking a group's diachronic cultural memories with synchronous communication practices.The specific narrative development and com-munication practices of the awareness of a national community,conceptualized as an abstract object,rely significantly on certain media and cultural symbols,where"image"and"imagery"play an important role."Image-imagery"therefore serves as the media code and field for expressing national spiritual temperament,imagination space,and communication temperament displayed in commu-nication styles that evoke and foster a sense of na-tional community,thereby shaping community con-sciousness and cultural identity.What is more,the structure of imagery communication seems to allow different audiences to decode the narrative text and intangible essence encoded within the imagery it-self based on their social,educational,and tem-peramental backgrounds.Academic investigation also reports that this decoding process functions as a process of"educating"the consciousness of a national community,embedding ideological con-structs into individual consciousness through visual forms of communication.By connecting with histo-ry and reconstructing memory,an audience may perceive a series of mental characteristics already contained in past development trajectories of a par-ticular civilization and then cultivate their own na-tional temperament and awaken their sense of com-munity.The formation mechanism of the con-sciousness of the Chinese national community shaped and molded through"image-imagery"com-munication unfolds across three levels:Memory re-trieval,cognitive inquiry,and identity formation.First of all,the process of re-creation and re-exam-ination of"image"by creative subjects and audi-ences across diverse temporal and spatial contexts can be considered in itself as a process of"extrac-tion"of national memory.Secondly,in the process of"reading"and"continuing"the"imagery"text,the subject's emotional engagement apparent-ly is called.Finally,the subject conceivably con-firms a relationship between self and others,and between self and the nation,further activating and deepening shared historical memory and national-related emotional ties.In this way,a subject can realize their identification with a national communi-ty,solidifying community consciousness in practi-cal terms and actualizing the development of a na-tion.Therefore,imagery communication undoubt-edly provides innovative dimensions to image com-munication of Chinese civilization,offering new avenues for exploring national consciousness and national identity.
