Logical Implications and Practical Paths of Forging a Strong Sense of Community for the Chinese Nation through Harmonious Coexistense between Man and Nature in Border Areas
This paper holds that central to the Chinese path to modernization,harmonious coexis-tence of humanity with nature is a fundamental characteristic and essential prerequisite.This con-cept,moreover,is believed to be deeply inter-twined with the building of a strong sense of com-munity in the Chinese nation.Both are also viewed as highly consistent in terms of theoretical founda-tion,goal orientation,subject of action,and prac-tical pathways.A modernization of harmonious co-existence between humans and nature should clari-fy the values of symbiotic relationships between hu-mans and nature,humans and society,and hu-mans and humans.Applying this to the case of China,this paper indicates that this harmony be-tween humans and nature—using multiple channels such as politics,economy,culture,and society—has been able to solidify the sense of community of the Chinese nation and realize an organic unity of human values and national will.Investigations have demonstrated that border areas integrate re-source enrichment and ecological fragility,shoul-dering the vital mission of building a national envi-ronmental security barrier.Due to their unique ge-ographical location and historical contexts,they exhibit certain differences and particularities such as natural conditions,development statuses,social cultures,political ecologies,and geopolitical situa-tions.Findings show that modernization of harmoni-ous coexistence between humankind and the natu-ral world has been able to provide an action basis for strengthening the sense of community of the Chinese nation in borderlands.By adhering to the concept that a good ecological environment is a u-niversal public good and a cornerstone of societal well-being,a consensus centered on"people-ori-ented,ecological priority"has been built.Through measures such as cultivating sustainable advantages in border areas and establishing mecha-nisms for realizing the value of environmentally friendly products,the ecology and livelihoods of border areas has been effectively improved.What is more,it can be concluded that by promoting ecofriendly and cultural traditions of various ethnic groups,encouraging communication and integration among different ethnic groups,and stimulating a two-way interaction of ecological civilization con-struction,institutional,material,cultural,and so-cial foundations for strengthening the sense of com-munity of the Chinese nation have been laid.Based on clarifying an inherent empirical con-nection and action logic between harmonious coex-istence of humanity and nature and the strengthe-ning of the awareness of the Chinese national com-munity,this paper further proposes practical strate-gies for harmonious coexistence of humans and na-ture in frontier areas to strengthen awareness of the Chinese national community.Firstly,to strengthen top-level design,promote strong government sup-port for ecological governance,and foster national unity and community awareness by narrowing the development gap concerning ecological civilization between different regions;secondly,to promotes ecological literacy and grassroots engagement,fos-tering a collective ethos of environmental steward-ship and participatory governance models among diverse ethnic groups;lastly,to capitalize on re-gional resource advantages,create and take advan-tage of comparative advantages,promoting a com-prehensive raising of regional economic and social development levels.
