The Construction of the Lord Guan Temple in Batang during the Qing Dynasty and the Integration of Ethnic Culture
Since the early Qing Dynasty,businessmen mainly from Shanxi continued to enter the Batang area and gradually formed immigrant groups,so did the belief in Guangong.In order to connect with fellow townspeople and seek spiritual support,merchants from oth-er places initiated and united with multi-ethnic officials and civilians to build the Lord Guan Temple.Afterwards,during the reigns of Jiaqing and Tongzhi,the Lord Guan Temple was gradually expanded and rebuilt.Officials and civilians from various ethnic groups jointly su-pervised and participated in the land buying,selling,and construction matters.The deities enshrined in the temple gradually became localized and integrated with multi-ethnic cultural elements.During the construction process of the Lord Guan Temple in Batang,multi-ethnic cultures went from initial contact to two-way interaction and ultimately achieved deep inte-gration.As an important symbol of Chinese culture,it was not only a cultural space widely participated,built and shared together by various ethnic groups,but also a historical herit-age of multi-ethnic cultural interaction and integration,as well as Chinese cultural identity.
