Yanyuan Zhang's Notes of Past Famous Paintings is the first systematic and complete work on painting in Chinese history,and Shaosong Yu,a modern scholar,has called it"the ancestor of painting history",which shows its high status and wide influence.Up to now,there are many scholars who have studied this book,but due to the numerous editions and the omission or change of textual punctuation,it is easy to make mistakes in understanding.This paper made comparisons of different editions of the Notes of Past Famous Paintings annotated by Jianhua Yu,Chengzai and Heping Zhu in recent times,and intends to find out the errors and omissions and the different interpretations of sentences in them for further comparison and analysis.
