The Solitary Script of the Bathing Buddha Festival Chengying Drama Buddha Transformed into a Golden Body and Consecration to the Golden Body are now stored in the Rare Books and Special Collections from The National Library of China,the research number is A03541.The story is based on the Daoan,an old monk in Tanxi Temple building up Buddha statues,in Ji Shenzhou Sanbao Gantong Lu and Xu Gaoseng Zhuan,and the story of Xie Hui changing Tanxi Temple to Jinxiang Temple.There are records of Buddha Transformed into a Golden Body and Consecration to the Golden Body in the third year of Daoguang(1823)and the eighteenth year of Daoguang(1838).Based on the existing information,it can be inferred that Buddha Transformed into a Golden Body and Consecration to the Golden Body were compiled before the eleventh year of Qianlong(1746),and there may have been stage performances in the Qianlong and Jiaqing dynasties,with"fireworks"stunts during the performances.By sorting out the performance history of Buddha Transformed into a Golden Body and Consecration to the Golden Body,it can be further explored that the overall trend of the Buddha Bathing Chengying Drama from temple performances to the palace performances.
