A Humble Opinion on the Study on Overseas Music Ethnography
Overseas music ethnography emphasizes the use of"dual linguistic ability".Based on cross-bor-der and cross-cultural comparative perspectives,it is a long-term residential fieldwork practice carried out by domestic scholars,using Chinese as the symbol for music ethnographic narratives and writing,on foreign music cultures.At the same time,the research subject of overseas music ethnography has changed from the representation of Western scholars and the self-representation of local Chinese scholars to the study of for-eign music as the subject of narration in a global perspective.The focus of overseas music ethnography is to rethink,from the perspective of globalization,the relationship between the generation,development,and cultural changes of musical style characteristics and the cultural landscapes of the countries where they are located in terms of economy,technology,media,ideology,and ethnicity construction.In addition to focu-sing on the study of foreign indigenous music,the study of overseas music ethnography should also pay atten-tion to the study of the overseas dissemination of Chinese music in the cross-border context.
