Research on Teachers Development in Modern China:A Study of 40 Years'Literature in the Journal of Chinese Educational Review
This paper reviewed the articles in the journal of Chinese Educational Review published from 1909 to 1948 to consider the studies on teacher development in modern China.It revealed that scholars,journal editors,and instructors of pedagogical concern focused research on teachers'literacy,training,development,support,global education,etc.,and also on the professional faculty construction,domestic and overseas much-concerned subjects,and existing issues and problems in contemporary China's teachers development.It suggested that these studies have demonstrated a clear picture of modern China's faculty development,thus making due contributions to teachers'development of that time.It,therefore,proposed that future research needs to be devoted to the empowerment of high-quality teachers'construction through clarifying the goals of teachers'development,strengthening the construction of systems and the exploration of models,focusing comparative research on hotspots and education concerns,and highlighting the issue on the faculty and the educational practice.It also emphasized that educational journals can work on topic planning and subject-specific design to help teachers develop research.
