Reflections on the Characteristic Setting of Undergraduate Specialties:A Descriptive Analysis of the Results of Filing and Approval of Undergraduate Programs in China's Colleges and Universities from 2012 to 2023
This research analyzed the outcomes of the filing and approval of undergraduate specialties published by the Ministry of Education to consider the development status of China's undergraduate specialty settings in terms of region,province,college type,specialty distribution,and disciplines from 2012 to 2023.The results showed that China's development of undergraduate specialty design significantly presents the evolutionary features of the autonomy of professional settings,the prominent contribution to economic and social advancement,and the continuous deepening of professional connotation construction,etc.,whereas significant gaps exist in the development of professional settings,and in the aspects of balance,scale,structure,and layout.The authors thus proposed that professional settings need to enhance links with economic and social development,the bodies of interest need to work together to guarantee the quality of program setting and construction,and that the return of the original essence of specialty establishment is required to advance the sustainable development of undergraduate specialty construction.
