Xu Shaofeng and the Updated Three-volume Great Early Modern Chinese Dictionary
Xu Shaofeng was a self-educated dictionary compiler, who had a rough life but compiled many voluminous works. Before his death,he completed the revision of the updated version of Great Early Modern Chinese Dictionary, adding 4,120 entries, and making many corrections in terms of meaning, example sentences, pronunciation, character shapes, interpretation, and ordering, which significantly improved the overall quality. However, the dictionary also has some shortcomings, mainly because some entries are not precise enough.
