As a distinguished scholar of Ganquan School in the late Ming Dynasty,Tang Shu wrote many works in the field of Confucian classics, and the core concept of his Confucian philosophy can be summarized as"interpreting the classics with the mind".In his view, the essence of the Six Classics is the natural action that arises from the touch of the"several gods"of our nature. The source of the Six Classics is the sage's transcription and recording of the"deeds that have been done this-worldly",and the function of the Six Classics is to eliminate material desires and to understand human nature. The study of classics provided a textual basis for Tang Shu's system of the study of mind, while latter provided a value orientation for his interpretation of the classics.Tang's Confucian thought played a positive role in promoting the thought of interpreting the classics using the study of mind in the middle and late Ming Dynasty, expanding the interpretation space of Ming Dynasty's Confucian studies in the field of"mind".
