Studies on Marco Polo Bridge Incident and the Outbreak of Sino-Japanese War in Anglo-American Academia
The Marco Polo Bridge Incident and the outbreak of Sino-Japanese War have been a focus of attention in the Anglo-American academia on the history of China's war of resistance and the history of East Asian relations.Related studies have focused on the nature and background of the Marco Polo Bridge Incident, how China and Japan moved towards total war after the Incident, the reactions of various Chinese forces involved in the Incident and its impact on international relations. On the whole, there are a small number of direct research results in this field in the Anglo-American academia. The related study basically upheld an objective and fair standpoint, and reached a relatively consensus understanding, pointing out that Japan's invasion of China is a long-planned and established policy, and unanimously agreeing that Japan should take responsibility for the incident evolving into an all-out war, which is of positive significance for affirming the status of the Chinese battlefield in the World Anti-Fascist War.At present, some Japanese scholars have a relatively loud voice in the Anglo-American academia, and have a certain academic influence, which needs our attention.More Chinese scholars need to step forward and build China's discourse power in the study of modern Chinese issues.
