The translation and dissemination of the Tao Te Ching in the Spanish-speaking world began in the 16th century,undergoing five significant transformations.These include the"hermeneutic"interpretations rooted in religious contexts,philosophical interpretations from a Western perspective,cultural representations through a literary lens,the revaluation of popular readership,and the cultural reconfiguration by Chinese translators.Lawrence Venuti's theories on classicization provide the theoretical framework for this study,which examines the translational transformations and dissemination processes of the Tao Te Ching from the perspectives of academic,educational,economic,and social values.This analysis reveals the multidimensional influences and dynamic interactions within the classicization process,highlighting the adaptability and enduring impact of the Tao Te Ching in Spanish-speaking cultures.
