The Impact and Mechanism of Digital Economy Development on Agricultural Carbon Emissions
Digital economy is an important driving force for the green and low-carbon development of agriculture.Clarifying the impact mechanism of digital economy on agricultural carbon emission intensity can provide a path reference for the low-carbon and green development of agriculture in China.This paper uses the principal component analysis method to calculate the digital economy development indicators of 30 provinces(autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government,excluding Tibet Autonomous Region and Hong Kong,Macao and Taiwan)in China from 2011 to 2022,and explores the impact of digital economy development on China's agricultural carbon emissions and its mechanism.The empirical research shows that:First,the development of digital economy has a significant inhibitory effect on agricultural carbon emissions.After retesting by replacing the main explanatory variables,excluding the central government and the dependent variables,the conclusion is still robust.Second,the development of digital economy can reduce agricultural carbon emissions through two transmission mechanisms of moderate scale and green finance.Third,the impact of the development of the digital economy on agricultural carbon emissions shows regional differences.From the perspective of heterogeneity analysis,in the central and western regions,northern regions,non-grain-producing areas and areas with high scientific and technological input,the development of digital economy has a particularly significant inhibitory effect on agricultural carbon emissions.In view of this,the paper puts forward policy suggestions from the aspects of developing digital economy according to local conditions,promoting the appropriate scale management of agriculture and increasing the supply of green financial services,so as to further promote the sustainable development of China's agriculture.
